July 23 – Reflection

Published by under Uncategorized

Today we began the day by talking about podcasting.  Of course every time I come to class, I feel my eyes open wide because of all the new stuff we are introduced to daily.  I feel like I have learned so much in this class, more so than any of my other classes because this is helping me apply my knowledge to something tangible.  I also think that I feel better prepared for my classroom because I will be able to hold many conversations, lessons, podcasts, presentation and much more on technology and the uses in the classroom.

Everyday, I truly feel like I have learned.  What is better than that is that I feel that I have retained all the information into my brain but just in case I forget, I could always go back to either the class blog or my blog.  I really have bragged about this class and I have gotten some jealous comments on how they wished they would have taken this class.

I find myself wanting to come to class and learn!  I hope that I can do the same for my students so that I may impact their life just as Steve has impacted all of ours.  Many of the students talk about their teachers to see how they are learning.  I have heard only great things from all the students here and how they too have learned so much in being in this class.

Personal Critique on Presentation

Published by under Uncategorized

Woah!  Our presentation is done.  Personal critiques are always a bit more harsh because you remember things you wanted to say after the fact.  I think I would have liked to record myself so that I could review myself and work out kinks.  Not that I like watching myself on video, heck I don’t even like listening to my voice.  Public speaking is always nerveracking, but it would sure help to curve that fear by possibly training in it more.

I think the rest of my group did a phenomenal job in our presentation.  I do forsee them being great teachers.  Oh wait, they are.

Smart Board Resources

Published by under Uncategorized

The following links take you to some very interesting sites that could be of some assistance when working with a Smart board.  I have gone to all of these sites and they have proved to be helpful.  All of them seem to be easy to navigate and when downloading, it doesn’t take a long time.  Some of these site also have the National Standards in mind, but please double check for state standards.  Also, the printouts are amazing, I think the students could really benefit from viewing their work they did on the Smart board.

I loved this vimeo!  I thought he was very tallented in his work.  I know it was just dancing, but it touched so many people.  Enjoy!

Today’s class was mostly for catching up and making sure we knew what we are doing with the application of the VA SOLs into our lessons.  For me it was a refresher with the added benefit of coming up with specific questions to answer those SOLs.  I had never seen it put this way, but it made total sense.  Once all was done, I was able to embed it into my blog (as seen below this post) and put it into GoogleDocs. These are some nifty tools!

By the way for those of you that would like the Bloom’s Taxonomy Verbs here is a link that can assist with you lessons.

Just for Fun

I was also able to finally make my avatar.  I think I will look like this once I start taking my kickboxing class that start tomorrow morning.  Ouch!  I’ll be sore for a while, but I’ll have great looking arms.
